Hardware Installation Guide
This guide explains how to physically mount and wire the Intellidwell Sprinkler Controller. Ensure the power transformer is unplugged before wiring any connections.
Mounting the Casing
The low-profile V2 enclosure is designed to mount flat on drywall or plaster using the included anchors and screws.
Select a location near your zone valve wiring bundle and a standard 120VAC wall outlet. If mounting in a garage or shed, ensure the area is shielded from freezing temperatures and direct water spray.
Remove the magnetic front cover of the controller. Align the base on the wall and mark the two mounting holes located on the vertical midline of the enclosure base. Drill 3/16" holes and insert drywall anchors.
Drive the screws through the mounting holes in the base directly into the anchors until the base sits flat and stable against the wall.
Power & Transformer Connections
Low-voltage power is supplied via an external 24VAC transformer. Only low-voltage connections enter the printed controller box.
Do not plug the 24VAC transformer into the wall until all controller terminals are wired. Never connect raw 120VAC household power directly to the sprinkler controller terminals.
Inside the controller, identify the screw terminal block labeled 24V AC. There are two terminals for power input.
Route the low-voltage output wires from your external 24VAC transformer through the bottom wiring channel of the controller base. Insert one lead into each of the two 24V AC terminals and tighten the screws securely. (Polarity does not matter for AC connection).
Wiring Solenoid Zone Valves
The controller supports up to 10 independent sprinkler zones and 1 common ground wire.
Most sprinkler installations use a multi-strand cable. One wire (typically white) is the Common Ground, which connects to one lead of every solenoid valve out in the lawn boxes. Route this wire into the controller and connect it to the terminal labeled COM.
Each remaining wire in your multi-strand cable corresponds to a specific zone valve. Strip 1/4" of insulation from each wire, insert them into the terminals labeled 1 through 10, and tighten the screw terminals.
Verify that there are no loose copper strands touching adjacent terminals. Attach the magnetic front cover plate. Plug the 24VAC transformer into your standard wall outlet. The controller's internal LED will light up, starting the system boot process.
Solenoid valves operate on 24VAC. Each valve has two wires: one connects to the Common (COM) line returning to the white terminal, and the other connects to its respective Zone terminal (1-10) returning to the controller.
